Epic Bus Journey Number 1

Our bus ride from Lima to Cusco was scheduled to last 21 hours. The bus that we took was basically like being on an airplane and wasn´t too bad... Until the motion sickness set in! (I am becoming your protoge, Skeeter) Poor Andy was a great sport as he spent the wee hours of his birthday with me thrashing about, feeling terribly nauseas and having extreme hot and cold flashes. The symptoms only subsided when the bus stewardess offered me a cotton ball soaked in some mysterious liquid (chloroform?) which I sniffed and then promptly passed out. In the morning, 2 hours outside of Cusco, we hit a ¨road block¨ but the road didn´t seemed blocked to us at all! We had two hours to just sit outside so we had a beer at a roadside shack, got torn up by bugs and took photos, and consequentially, the journey lasted 24 hours in total! Here are some pics from the road and the stop. Mom, don´t look at the photo of my legs if you believe in the West Nile Virus. (*note* some of the photos from now on were taken by Andy as well)

  1. Your legs look the the people on Survivor after they have been on the island for a couple of days, however they are playing for money, not spending it!!

  2. Lolou, your poor legs! That looks muuuuch worse than my Nutty Professor burnt foot was in Thailand.
This trip looks EPIC, and I'm so glad you are doing the blog so I can vicariously live through you while sitting inside at my desk.
Sorry to hear you are becoming prone to motion sickness, it's TEH WORST.
I must say, Andy may have a career in photography, the mirror pic and the one of you sitting along the wall are my faves. Keep the pictures coming!

  3. Hehe yeah the bug bites were bad. Thankfully there is a pill here that completely stops the itching! And I took the mirror pic of myself! Thanks!
